If you have a US-issued ATM card, check with your bank before you go as to whether or not they have an "international currency conversion fee". One of my debit cards, Chase, does. It is 3% of the transaction, whether it is a purchase or ATM withdrawl. For example, if I take my daily maximum ($400) out of an ATM in PV, Chase deducts $3 for using a non-Chase ATM, PLUS 3% of the $400 withdrawl, or $12. That's $15, plus whatever the bank's ATM charges. I have a Credit Union card that charges 1% for the conversion fee and $1 for using the ATM.

That's great advice. There's a BIG difference in credit card ATM fees. Check your cards before you come.

To reduce bank fees, we increased our daily limit to $1000, and we use the Banorte ATMs on Olas Altas to withdraw 10000p in 500p notes.

Goldman Sachs is now forecasting par for YE. Their previous forecast was $0.92 until yesterday.

But don't buy US dollars! The US dollar is rapidly tanking (just worth 13 pesos, .67 euros and 90 yen today). Other US investors I know are buying foreign currency now before the dollar gets any worse...

My savings are getting next to nothing so I hate to pay 3% or more for a single transaction. B of A debit cards as of April were fee free if you used Santander. There is a Santander ATM in Rizo's so that was easy. They are now charging 1% and that is if you use their ATM's. I checked with Paypal yesterday and they are now charging $1 and 1%. The ATM owner may add their own fees. All ATM's are not equal. Watch out for ATM's set up in small shopping centers. They usually warn you of their fees but the warning will be in Spanish. I have had the worst luck with Banamex ATM's. We got over 15 pesos to the dollar in March but that was not sustainable. 13 is more reality based. The US and Mexico economies are so interdependent that I wouldn't think it would get that much lower, but what do I know? Sorry if I have hijacked this thread but all these comments are based on the US dollar.

Maybe we are a small pebble in a big pond but I am giving an excellent exchange rate at the shop this year.
And obviously this is not for 'currency exchange', but a 'purchase price'.....
