loonie: I walked by there last night and it is definately Madero just east of I.L. Vallarta just as chico shows with the google street view!
Some door and window openings have changed a bit, but the buildings are basically the same! Bolero bar is on the corner.
Oh, and the taco stand is still there as well

I think it is Madero. Michael found the old address for Sr Pancho on Madero 260 and even posted a picture of the streetside vendor on that block.

I forgot to mention that the Sr. Pancho/Asian restaurant (on google street view) is now the "Hangout" bar!
This was fun! Any more 25 year old pics out there?

I think Chico98's streetview photo is pretty close to the location. What fooled me is the flow of traffic on Madero. It's now westbound. But in 1988 it could have been eastbound. Remember when they tore up Lazaro Cardenas Park a few years ago and put in underground parking? The buses used to loop around the park, but during construction they had to find a new block to turnaround. So perhaps, at that time they changed Madero from eastbound to westbound? So Sr. Pancho's and the taco stand would have been on the northside of Madero. Which means a few tall trees on the southside are gone. The building just down from Bolero (at the corner of Vallarta) has the same windows as in the '88 photo. Also thanks Keith!

You are walking "east" toward the mountains!!! Sr. Pancho was on the south side (#260, southside of street is even numbers) of Madero, as is Bolero at the southeast corner of Madero at Vallarta.

Like this? This shot puts the mountain back in the background and the concrete hydro poles are on the southside of Madero. And it puts the tall trees on the left side back where they were in '88. So Madero was always eastbound, great!

You're not real good with a compass are you!!!
The traffic is westbound heading toward the ocean... Where the sun sets in the west!!
