Taxi Safe Vallarta

In Spring of last year, there were reports of rogue taxi drivers robbing their clients and leaving them abandoned. Some of those reports made it here onto PVScene.
Any robberies since then?

A friend got ripped off this week. He was drinking at the Roxy with another friend. Went home around 2:30. Got a call at 4am saying the friend was being held by police on drug charges. The caller was using the friend's cell phone. He needed to deliver 3000 pesos to make it go away. He tried to reach the friend at Los Arcos and was unsuccessful so he made the payment. Then he went to Los Arcos and found his friend asleep in another room.

Of course, he failed to note the Sitio/taxi number nor the name of hotel clerk who lied to him when he called. But he did recover the cell phone. So it remains just another nasty rumour! And a costly lesson about being drunk late at night in PV.

I don't know how "Safe" this driver is.....but he always asks the same two questions when I walk past:

1. Taxi?

2. Weed?
