Tainted alcohol?

Postby EHHackney » Tue Oct 10, 2017 10:02 am

Had anyone else heard about this? Is there anything to it?

Please note: This is not a rant or an attempt to start one. 'Just curious. Puerto Vallarta was mentioned in at least one of the versions of this story.

It was concentrated in East coast resorts.

This is a corrected link

We have had personal experience of what could have been tainted alcohol in a well known PV bar.
We have also sampled some of the unbranded wholesale Gin and Vodka that is supplied to some all-inclusive hotels and bars in town but it is difficult to know what you are being served as some barmen told us the normal practice for these bars is to refill an empty branded bottle with the cheaper stuff. You can get it wholesale at an amazing cost - $3/$4 a bottle but origin/effects is questionable so we stopped buying it. We stay with beer or a bottle of wine to stay safe at the bars and buy branded spirits from reputable outlets like Costco.

We also had an experience last year in another well known bar, enough to make one suspicious of all places considering that a friend had a similar experience in a restaurant in the Marina. It's a problem everywhere.
