Tuna Fest II at Mordidas, Dec 13

Postby freeeye » Tue Nov 28, 2017 12:29 pm

Mordidas is holding a very special 89 peso VallartaScene "buffet" on Wednesday, December 13.

Mel, a visiting fisherman/chef will be preparing a wide variety of freshly caught tuna at TUNA FEST II.

It will be mostly a do it yourself thing…
Everyone will be encouraged to make their own custom sushi hand rolls, and Mel’s family will be present to assist those who have no clue (most of us).
That is the nice thing about hand rolls… just roll your own.
All the ingredients will be on the tables to combine into one’s own concoction.

MENU

Tuna tataki
Tuna poke
Spicy tuna hand rolls
Tuna Nigiri
Tuna sashimi
Tuna cerviche
Grilled Tuna Belly

This meal is informal but registration is required so that we have some idea of the number of people attending. Registration begins NOW. There is very limited seating so if you are interested please sign up now.

Looking forward to this event as a highlight of our fishing trip. Hope that the fish continue to cooperate. We fish 70 miles offshore at the tres Marias Islands so the fishery is quite different from the local banks around Puerto Vallarta. We only keep what we need and release the rest. A count would be helpful because I need to buy some of the ingredients here in the States. It is a lot of fun and good food too so do try to come. Sign ups begin tomorrow. Rick, can you give me a count before Dec 8th as I leave on the 9th for PV.

The count should be around 30, Mel. That's the most people the restaurant can hold without getting crowded and everyone being comfortable.

I accidentally overbooked our Thanksgiving potluck and it was insane with about 50 people. I've learned my lesson.

Right now the count is at 20 so we should be closing the signup in 2-3 days.

Felt like more people last year. I think I have enough to feed more.

Mel, we will have the supplies ready when you get here.

And I am counting your family in separately from the general public.
I'm limiting the public count to 30 because we have recently had a Thanksgiving potluck dinner that mushroomed out of control with too many people. I know that you are fully capable of setting up for more people but I'm going to stick to this number. You will appreciate it when this festival gets going. (there may be people who drop in later than when we start.)

I am looking forward to this. It is a real treat for me.
