Yes, it has lots of names. It is also known as the market at the Paradise Community Center.

For a little background, the Saturday Coop Market was started by some vendors from the original market. It was started in response to the draconian requirements of the market manager and the lack of response to the needs of the vendors, specifically, that the real vendors needed to be open all year (not just in tourist season) and that they wanted a tad more freedom in what they could sell.

For instance, one vendor of fresh vegetables was told she had to leave the original market because she brought something not on her original product list (anyone who has experience with farmers markets knows that crops change constantly). Another was told that he could not sell chocolate (the manager sells chocolate...). One vendor was not allowed to sell on a Saturday because he was 5 minutes late (for the 1 hour pre-setup time). If a vendor sold out, as often happens with real farmers market vendors, they were forced to sit there until the market ended so as to make the market look larger.

Lots of little things that added up to a rather unfriendly atmosphere for true farmers market vendors. Of course, this situation also added up to a very friendly atmosphere for the multitudes of "craft" vendors at the original market. Mas trinkets for the touristas in high season...

Hey you guys, it is summer up there. Beautiful long days, exuberant outdoor jaunts, and warmth for your bones.

I guess maybe life in Mexico is more than just good weather for many of you,.....eh?
