Thinking about making Nanaimo Bars this Christmas. Does anyone know if you can buy Birds Custard Powder here? If so, where? Think I can find everything else. :D

There's a lady and her sister at the Three Hens and a Rooster Market on Carranza that make the bars so they would know. I'll send you a message with their link.

Haven't a clue about the powder, but I'll take a dozen!!
I agree with Shelly, talk to the mom&pop bakers, lots of cream filled pastries
good luck!

I was wondering what you were talking about, then saw these bars featured last night on an episode
of Masterchef Canada on Telecable channel 68, TLC. There were three layers with custard in the
middle and looked difficult to construct. Good luck.

Ok, now I get it.
I have never seen Bird's custard powder here. There are many brands of custard mix here in the stores. The flan mixes are custard, as opposed to pudding. It seems like maybe an even better option would be to make your own custard, but I don't know since I have never eaten these.
I imagine the difficult part will be to find graham crackers. I usually substitute half Maria cookies and half coconut bar cookies for graham crackers when I am doing that kind of crust.

Down here, substitution is a fine art.
