Sorry about serial posting! My memory is as good as ever, but very slow...it takes 24 hours for me to remember stuff nowadays. :) If you use the ereader link above and "purchase" the free books off of Amazon, Amazon will hold those books until you download them. So if you are planning on purchasing a Kindle and see a free book, just click on the buy with one click button and it will be there to be downloaded when you do get a Kindle. The free books do disappear so it is worth the time to check it a couple of times a day.

I've been using a Sony eReader for a couple of years and it saves a lot of space and weight when I come to Mx for my yearly two week vacation.

I have downloaded a lot of books from http://www.myanonamouse.net/ and if they were in the wrong format, converted them with Calibre. I then copy them to an SD card that plugs into the eReader.

I'll be leaving the cold here in Canada and on the beach this time tomorrow with the latest Grisham, Clancy, DeMille and a bunch of other books.

Rabi-

Over two years on my Kindle now, no issues. I recommend a cover. I have the one made for it, it has hit the deck on numerous occasions, been on the road, in and out of luggage, grabbed by the dog, other than beat up looking, no issues. I've down loaded directly from Amazon to my computer and also through the reader's internal device.

I've heard an interesting fact last night that goes along with this thread.

QueMichael has a KOBO as one of his raffle prizes for the Brigada de Basura fundraiser on Feb. 20 :) For the minimal raffle ticket price -- umm didn't quite catch how much they were cuz I was drunk -- somebody here could win a KOBO or one of the other fabulous prizes that are being offered. Maybe you won't have to buy a Kindle, Rabi :D

I spoke with a friend yesterday who has a Kindle and loves it. She did have one problem though. Something about the cover made her battery drain very quickly. She called the help centre, sent it back, and they sent her a new one for $25. Good service. Other Kindle owners may be having the same problem.

She has already bought a kindle. It didn't make much sense to buy a second rate reader that's attached to a company (Borders) that is filing for bankruptcy.

I have a cover on my Kindle and as long as I keep the wifi turned off (only turning it on to download), I haven't had problems with losing power. If I forget to turn the wifi off I lose power quickly.
