Mardi Gras Parade

Postby rabihorcada » Mon Feb 13, 2012 12:44 am

I just wanted to remind everyone that the meetup for this week will be SATURDAY, at 6PM. This is because we will be heading down to the Mardi Gras parade in our finery to join the festivities around 8pm.

Bring your costumes and we will have a truly amazing time this year.

We have no private area to dress up this year (can't have any glitter around my animals for their safety),and Lucky eats everything, chairs, glasses, tv remotes, everything, so my apt is off limits for any costume stuff, and all the rooms are occupied, so I suggest you come in costume or dress at the bar provided you don't have to take you regular clothes off first, this would excite too many restaurant guests and they would expect a show every Sat. lol! All my casa guests and myself will have our costumes prepared during the week, so we'll be dressing before we come down to the bar so as not to scare anyone.

we have very limited space on the vehicles so many of us will be taking taxis to the starting point, some will meet us there! but everyone is welcome, we will make this a dancing, walking, (few old farts riding) street party that continues thru town.

THIS WILL BE A BLAST OF A PARTY MY FRIENDS and I promise not to fall off the wagon at the starting point (like I was accused of one year), of course I knew this was all lies because I think my costume looked better than everyone elses and they got jealous lol!

did anyone notice.....!!!, I've finally been allowed back on line YAHOOOOOOO!

LOL I would write what goes on behind the scenes in producing an event like this but I'd probably be run out of the country. I may be anyhow considering my "openness" to the strange and my partners' proclivities to flamboyant extravaganza.

Seems like this is going to be a great parade. We have everything from Andale's donkey to the Bomberos to REALLY trashy drag queens to Isabel's motley crew. My goal is to get all of Vallarta into this parade. It is definitely an audience participation show.

What can possibly go wrong?

I'd say nothing at all! And probably no one would know if it did. Have a wonderful time.

An article you describe would make a terrific "insider's view" into the dynamics of event marketing planning, especially in a foreign country with primarily Catholics and a committee peppered with people from all walks of life. It will all fall together perfectly for you, I'm sure....sure looked well-orchestrated last year....with a parade of this size and magnitude/participation, things are bound to get "jammed-up" a bit. Enjoy yourselves and BE yourselves (as Isabel so perfectly put it)...just be the crazy bunch that you all are.
