Tourists Convention Preparations

Postby jrdwdw » Thu Mar 01, 2012 5:51 pm

Jalisco and Puerto Vallarta appear to be pulling out all the stops to make things pretty for the convention. We went up to Bucerias today, and from the airport, all the way, dozens, if not hundreds of workers were working on the medians. Laying sod and plantings in decorative patterns. Even had the Army working on the part outside the base above the airport. It looks like it will be really pretty, once it is finished--and if it stays watered. Road down to the main bus terminal is completely closed for re-paving. Is it possible to come out that way from the convention center. rather than having to continue north to the retourno?

Any idea what is being constructed in the median where the north south bridge access splits on the south side?

I don't know if it is the entire way to Bucerias, but certainly near Mescales, we saw that they were laying piping between the trees. I assumed this would be for underground watering. That would definitely be better than the current "guy on a truck" that is used.

They did that down near the Sheraton also. Not hooked to water system at this time. The Director of Tourism called it "our third world irrigation system." Truck still has to stop at one end and connect to feed the system. But is does keep the high pressure out of the truck from destroying the plants.
