Arrive in PVR 3:40 PM. Will I make the water taxi?

Postby jeffp » Fri Sep 18, 2009 10:53 am

My wife and I arrive into the PV airport at 3:40 on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd. Will we be able to to make the last water taxi from PV to Yelapa? I am hoping someone can advise me about which pier to leave from? And how to get from the airport to the pier? I am assuming a tax ride will be the quickest way to get to the pier.

Thanks, Jeffp

There is "normally" a boat at 4:30 and 5:30 but I'm not sure about that schedule in the low season.

You can look here for more info: http://www.yelapa.info/ or maybe Robert, who lives in Yelapa, will pop in here and give you some first hand info.

The boats leave from Los Muertos pier at those times. Any airport taxi will know where the pier is. The taxi ride to the pier is about $235 pesos (for up to 3 people). The boat ride is around $100 pesos each person, each way.

Even if there is a 5:30 boat, you're going to be cutting it very, very close, if you make it at all.

I'd slow down and stay overnight in a nearby hotel, like the Yazmin or Posada Lily, and leave the next day.

You might possibly make it, but I wouldn't count on it. Best way to be sure is to call the water taxi office at 222-0680 when you get past customs. The 4 pm usually doesn't leave until 4:30 and they leave v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y if the boat isn't full, I have known them to turn around and go back to Los Muertos pier after getting a call from the office.

The last water taxi from Boca de Tomatlàn leaves at 6 pm and I imagine the taxi fare from the airport would be somewhere in the $500-$600 peso range.

I think you'll have more fun if you spend the night in Vallarta and come to Yelapa the next day on the 11 am.
